On-stage shots are great for publicity. They can either be staged especially for photography, or I can shoot a dress rehearsal. If there’s time to do it, staged potos usually look best as there’s more control of lighting, positioning, and facial expressions.

Dress rehearsals are more hit-and-miss, but I can normally get some decent shots – I’ll take hundreds of shots and then give you the best ones.

Staged Photos

For staged photos, I will use my own lights. They take about 10 mins to set up, and 10 mins to pack down again.

You will need a list (or at least an idea) of photos you want

During the shoot, we will work together to place your cast in their positions for the shots. Let me know on the day if there’s anything particular you want to show in the shots like a prop or an expression or something like that.

Dress Rehearsal

If you don’t want to commit the time to a staged photoshoot, I can shoot a dress rehearsal. I’ll come to two rehearsals… one without a camera, just to see the performance and get to know it, and to note any cues that I want to be sure to catch. Then I’ll come to the next one with cameras and likely rattle off hundreds of shots. Dress Rehearsals are difficult as lots of the photos will have challenging lighting for photography, shadows, weird facial expressions and so on. So afterwards I will sort through the photos and present you with the best ones after a day or two.
